Working Principle

In the OPTIFLUX 4100, this principle is applied with exceptional precision. The flowmeter consists of a sensor (which includes a measuring tube, magnetic coils, and electrodes) and a transmitter (which processes the signal from the sensor and displays the flow rate and other relevant data). When a conductive fluid flows through the measuring tube of the sensor, the magnetic coils generate a uniform magnetic field perpendicular to the direction of the fluid flow. As the fluid passes through this magnetic field, a voltage is induced in the fluid, which is detected by two electrodes mounted on the inner wall of the measuring tube (flush with the wall to avoid disrupting the flow).
The transmitter then converts this induced voltage into a flow rate reading, using a calibration factor that accounts for the dimensions of the measuring tube, the strength of the magnetic field, and other variables. Since the measurement is based on the fluid's velocity (and not on its density, viscosity, or temperature, as long as it remains conductive), the OPTIFLUX 4100 provides highly accurate readings even for fluids with varying physical properties— a key advantage over other types of flowmeters, such as differential pressure (DP) flowmeters or turbine flowmeters.
