Working Principle

Operating on the principle of the von Kármán vortex street, the 8600DF functions as follows: When a fluid (liquid, gas, or steam) flows through the meter, it encounters a non - streamlined bluff body, known as the vortex generator. This causes the fluid to separate and form alternating vortices behind the bluff body. These vortices are shed in a regular pattern, creating a so - called "vortex street." The frequency at which these vortices are shed is directly proportional to the velocity of the fluid flow. The 8600DF is equipped with a highly sensitive sensor that detects these vortices. As the vortices pass by the sensor, they induce a small, periodic change in pressure or vibration, which is then converted into an electrical signal. Through sophisticated signal processing algorithms, the flow rate of the fluid can be accurately determined based on the frequency of these signals.
