Principle of Operation:

The Soliphant FTM20 operates on the principle of mechanical vibration. It consists of a vibrating fork that is excited to resonate at a specific natural frequency. When the fork comes into contact with a bulk solid or liquid, the vibration is damped. The internal electronics of the device detect this change in vibration characteristics and convert it into a switching signal.

For bulk solids, as the material accumulates and reaches the level of the vibrating fork, the mass of the material affects the fork's vibration. In the case of liquids, the damping effect is due to the change in the surrounding medium's properties. This reliable sensing mechanism allows the FTM20 to distinguish between the presence and absence of the measured medium with high precision.

Once the vibration change is detected, the signal is processed by the built - in microprocessor. The microprocessor analyzes the frequency shift and other relevant parameters to determine the exact level condition. Based on this analysis, it triggers a switching action. This switching action can be used to control processes such as activating or deactivating feeders, alarms, or other equipment related to level management.
