The FMG60 operates on the gamma-ray absorption principle, utilizing a radioactive source (typically Cesium-137 or Cobalt-60) and a scintillation detector to measure material levels. Gamma rays emitted by the source penetrate the vessel wall and are attenuated by the process media. The detector, mounted on the opposite side, quantifies the radiation intensity, which correlates to the material level or density. This method eliminates direct contact with the medium, ensuring immunity to corrosion, abrasion, or fouling—critical for aggressive environments like molten metal tanks, acid reactors, or sludge digesters.
With a measuring range of up to 15 meters (49.2 feet), the FMG60 accommodates small silos to large industrial vessels. Its accuracy of ±1% of full scale ensures precise control for inventory management, process optimization, and safety-critical systems. The transmitter supports 4–20 mA (HART protocol), pulse outputs, and IO-Link (optional), enabling seamless integration into PLCs, SCADA systems, and digital networks.
