The E+H PMD50 operates based on the principle of measuring the difference in pressure between two points in a process. It utilizes a metal - membrane sensor to detect these pressure differences. When pressure is applied to the sensor, the differential pressure causes the membrane to deform. This deformation is then converted into an electrical signal that is proportional to the differential pressure.

Mathematically, the differential pressure (ΔP) is the difference between the higher pressure (P1) and the lower pressure (P2), i.e., ΔP=P1−P2.
