Leveraging advanced 80 GHz frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) radar technology, this transmitter delivers exceptional accuracy, immunity to process disturbances, and long-range measurement capabilities. Engineered for critical applications in oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, water treatment, and food and beverage industries, the 5900C combines cutting-edge digital signal processing with robust mechanical design to ensure consistent performance in harsh conditions.
Core Technical Performance The Rosemount 5900C offers ±1 mm (±0.04 in) or ±0.1% of span accuracy, whichever is greater, with a measurement range of up to 40 meters (131 ft) for liquids and 20 meters (66 ft) for solids. It provides a 4–20 mA analog output paired with HART® 7 digital communication, enabling seamless integration with PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems for real-time data acquisition and remote diagnostics. Powered by 10.5–42 V DC loop power, the transmitter operates reliably in extreme ambient temperatures from -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F), with response times under 100 milliseconds to support dynamic process control. Its multi-echo tracking algorithm identifies and ignores false signals from tank obstructions, ensuring uninterrupted measurement even in challenging environments with foam, vapor, or turbulence.
Innovative Design and Durability The 5900C features 80 GHz horn or rod antennas with PFA/PTFE-coated options for corrosion resistance in aggressive media. Constructed with 316L Stainless Steel, Hastelloy C-276, or Tantalum wetted materials, it withstands exposure to acids, solvents, and high-temperature processes. The IP66/IP67-rated aluminum or stainless steel enclosure protects against dust, moisture, and mechanical impacts, while its sensors endure vibration (2g RMS) and shock (50g), ensuring reliability in offshore platforms, refineries, and chemical plants. The transmitter is available with flanged (ANSI/DIN/JIS), threaded (NPT/BSP), or hygienic clamp-style connections to meet global installation standards.
