Determination of ammonium and nitrate concentration: By accurately measuring the concentration of ammonium and nitrate in the aeration basins, operators can better understand the state of the biological treatment process. High ammonium levels may indicate incomplete nitrification, while elevated nitrate levels can be a sign of over - aeration or inefficient denitrification.
